Corner Stone: Building A Strong Foundation

Mark 12:10 “And have ye not read this scripture; The stone which the builders rejected Is become the head of the corner:”

Society wants us to build our foundation on finite things. We often put our trust in career paths, our feelings, money and other things that aren’t permanent and wonder why when the storms of life hit we get so shaken. Jesus is the ROCK of our foundation everything else is SAND. Jesus is permanent, everlasting, guaranteed strength.

I spent years of my life denying the faith, a spiritual nomad attempting to find the love and alignment that I eventually learned can only be achieved in Christ. From pursuing Islam for discipline, Buddha for peace , Hinduism for sacred physical, mental and spiritual alignment , astrology for evaluation of character all of these things that we embrace are only  pieces of the complete corner stone Jesus Christ.

We have the tendency to put things in places where they don’t belong and nothing deserves to be the centerpiece of our lives except Jesus. If Jesus is the corner stone everything around him must align with his place in our life  or it will not be fit to build.

If our corner stone is comfort we will always choose the route that makes the flesh feel good and not strengthen our spirit. We’ll choose alcohol over the anointing, weed over the word, substituting substances over the scriptures. If the corner stone is money the stones to build will align with financial prosperity but could sacrifice moral standard. If our corner stone is love then to build on that corner stone we may compromise respect just for feelings of companionship. If our corner stone is family we may indulge in   self destruction and burnout  instead of trusting in Gods provision. But when our corner stone is Christ the human desire for love and prosperity is still present but the means of achieving these things don’t taint our spirit with carnal acts that could disrupt our walk with God or corrupt our character and morals .

Jesus is the only way. He sustainable because we find his strength in our weaknes. He’s faithful because when we fall he restores. We don’t have to strive through good deeds and acts of service we just have to pursue him above all things and all the desires of heart will be given to us. They feel in the pieces around Jesus once he is the center. Choose Him Today.
