“I Know What It’s Like”

A Letter to My Students and Every Young Heart Wrestling with Trust

There’s something sacred about struggle.
Especially when you’re young and navigating identity, pressure, expectations, and emotions that feel like never ending waves. As someone who was once sitting in your seat, hearing people talk about faith like it was easy, I want you to know: I see you. I remember. And I understand.

I know what it’s like to feel like you have to figure life out on your own. I know what it’s like to doubt that God really cares about your specific situation, your anxiety, your home life, your relationship problems, your loneliness, and your dreams.

But here’s what I’ve learned…

God isn’t a distant idea. He’s not a theory to debate or a philosophy to memorize. He is a Father who wants to be involved. A King who reigns but also walks right beside you and lives within you. And a Savior who knows every emotion you’ve ever felt because He felt them too.

Our culture teaches us to be self-sufficient. To lean into our emotions, to define our own truth, to be our own god. But independence from God doesn’t lead to peace. It leads to pressure. The weight of life wasn’t meant to rest on your shoulders.

That’s why we need His Word.

The Bible isn’t just a history book. It’s the only living, breathing thing on earth that can speak directly to your situation, no matter how unique or messy it feels.
Depressed? Read David.
Afraid? Read Joshua.
Overwhelmed? Read Philippians.
Lonely? Read Psalms.
Tempted? Read Matthew.
Lost? Read John.

The Word of God is the only thing that has everything you need. There’s something for every moment, every battle, every emotion.

God is not disappointed with your struggle. He’s waiting in it.
He wants to give you joy! Not the temporary high kind that leaves when reality returns, but the kind that stays when everything else leaves. He wants to give you peace! Not the surface-level peace people pretend to have, but the kind that anchors your soul.

So if you’re struggling to trust Him believe me I get it, I over-stand. But I challenge you to just try Him.Talk to Him. Open His Word. Ask Him to show you who He really is. Because I promise you he’s more than capable. He’s more than willing. And He wants to walk with you. Not just for church. Not just for a crisis. But every single day.
